MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A baccalaureate degree plus two years of professional level experience in computer systems programming; systems, database, or network enterprise system support (hardware or software level); or electrical engineering. SUBSTITUTIONS:

Experience or training in computer systems programming, computer operations, network communications, production control, electronic technician work, or computer systems liaison work may be substituted for the required college training on the basis of one year of experience or training for two years of college.

An associate degree in computer science may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.

Twelve months of microcomputer network support or related software support duties equivalent to those of an Information Technology Office Specialist 2 (providing support for both stand alone and networked microcomputers as well as use of sophisticated scripting macros)will substitute for the required baccalaureate degree. NOTE: With rare exceptions, classified employees must have served as an Information Technology Office Specialist 2 in order to qualify.

Twelve months of professional level computer programming or technical support experience will substitute for the degree.

Completion of a full-time comprehensive data processing course approved by the Department of Civil Service which included extensive emphasis on system programming may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree. For less than completion of the course, credit will be allowed under the first paragraph for substitutions. All training must have been resident study.

Verifiable experience in computer systems programming; or in systems, database, or network enterprise system support (hardware or software level) at a Louisiana State agency as a student worker enrolled in any baccalaureate degree program will substitute for a maximum of one year the required professional experience on a month for month basis. A letter from the agency employing the former student must be submitted with the application and retained as part of the former student worker's record.

A baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours in computer science, management information systems (MIS), quantitative business analysis-computer science, electrical engineering, information systems and decision sciences, computer engineering, telecommunications, or computer information systems will substitute for one year of the required experience.

A masters degree in the above fields will substitute for one year of the required experience.

A baccalaureate degree and a masters degree in the above qualifying fields will substitute for all of the required experience.

Enterprise systems support refers to the type of system for which support is being done. For example, stand alone PC support is not qualifying versus LAN system support which is qualifying. System software, database and network (LAN, WAN) are three types of enterprise system support.
