In conjunction with the Chief Information Officer and under the software development guidelines and technology standards defined by Apollo Corporate IT, this position is responsible for overseeing and directing all corporate information systems activities, including systems analysis, programming, and computer and auxiliary operations.
•Directs and oversees personnel actions including recruiting, new hire actions, interviewing and selection of new staff, staff reviews, and salary determinations.
•Defines and implements the strategic departmental goals and objectives and determines the optimal progression to obtain these goals. This includes developing the Information Technology budget in accordance with corporate standards, as well as, directing and monitoring activities to conform to the established budget. This also includes directing strategic information technology activities and programs.
•Sets policies and procedures, technical standards and methods and operational priorities in conjunction with Chief Information Officer, to guide and direct organization-wide information technology activities.
•Manages the interface between information systems and other functions in the company to ensure smooth and effective operations.
•Provides information and reports to executive management on the organization's information systems plans, projects, performance and related matters.
•Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
•Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
•10 or more years of application development leadership experience
•Should have experience managing IT managers and will have been responsible for more than 50 persons in the overall software development staff.
•Demonstrable experience building WEB based applications that heavily use API and shared services architecture.
•A thorough knowledge and understanding of software development computer science as typically obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field.
•Must have sufficient educational background and/or experience to qualify incumbent to perform work at the highest technical level and manage others on all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities as described above. Seven - eight years of software development experience or experience in a related field is required.
•A significant understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the software development field is required.
•Experience directing and managing large complex projects and experience supervising and/or leading other professional level IT staff is required.
•Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers and department staff, as described above.
•A high level of analytical, strategic planning and organizational ability is required to define and implement strategic direction of multiple departments or divisions, encompassing departmental goals and objectives as described above.
•Must possess the ability to effectively communicate with others, perform work in a team environment, and relay necessary information as appropriate.
