Currently, Flint Hills Resources is filling positions in the area of Asphalt Terminal Operations. As an Operations Technician, you will have responsibility for the overall operation of the terminal including basic functions such as receipt and shipment of raw materials and asphalt products, manufacturing of asphalt products (emulsions, PMAC - if applicable), lab testing, inspection and recordkeeping requirements, computer oriented tasks, and the maintenance of the equipment in the facility.

You will coordinate with schedulers for the successful delivery and receipt ofasphalt product (by truck, rail or barge, as applicable to terminal) and production of finished products to meet customer demands. Technicians also input computer data and are assigned duties through a work management system. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to support the team as you manage small projects and perform specific tasks that are requested by your Terminal Manager. These may include, but are not limited to: product transfers, product production, mechanical troubleshooting, pump maintenance, valve maintenance, testing of system safety devices, periodic inspections of tanks, valves or piping, and other product quality control or technically oriented tasks related to an asphalt facility.In the event of terminal and other system "call outs", you are willing to be available for on-call rotation during selected nights and weekends as required by the number of personnel in rotation.

Team members must be willing to occasionally travel (with overnight stays) for training, meetings or to assist short term at other locations.Work Experience & Skills Required:Solid verbal and written communication skills Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills Demonstrated organization skills A valid driver's license Ability to complywith the physical requirementsof the position: safely lift at least 50 lbs., negotiate in, on, and around piping at both grade level and above grade level elevations, navigate vertical ladders and spiral tank stairs to reach work areas, occasionally enter confined spaces through 24" diameter manways, and tolerate scents common to fuels and asphalts loading operations, as well as those of construction and maintenance related activities such as welding, painting, and tank cleaning Willingness to work shift work if necessary, and to be on-call for after hours support Willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions Willingness to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (e.g. hard hat, safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, respirator, safety work boots, as required) Willingness to occasionally travel (with overnight stays) in order to attend training, meetings and toassist other locationsEducation RequiredHigh school diploma or equivalentWork Experience & Skills PreferredBasic mechanical and/or electrical knowledge At leasttwo years production/maintenance experience in the refined products terminal or production facilities and/or oil and gas industry (Mechanical/Industrial trade school may be considered work experience) Proficient computer skillsEducation PreferredIdeal candidates will have a two-year technical or mechanical degreeThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
