Responsible for the prudent management of the division’s mineral, oil and gas assets, duties vary widely including risk management, client relationships and rugged on-site property inspections. The function includes asset management, verification of title documentation, negotiation of sales and leases, inspections, appraisals, insurance review, ad valorem taxes, supervision of support staff and other duties as identified or assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

Review title documents for all mineral properties to determine and inventory account’s interest. Supervise set up of assets on appropriate accounting systems.

Supervise review of ad valorem tax statements to include timely receipt and payment and adjustment of market value, where appropriate.

Responsible for drafting and maintenance of policies and procedures and keeping the group in compliance with trust and related regulations.

Contract negotiation to include: oil & gas leases. Seismic options, farm-outs, purchase and sale, lease options and surface agreements, address environmental issues as needed.

Analyze and maintain the oil & gas accounting systems to include tracking and implementation of software upgrades and conversions and keeping pace with industry standards.

Supervise clerical support staff, including performance appraisals and salary increase recommendations.

Act as secondary backup for real estate management department.

Acts as relationship manager and responsible for:
Establishing and/or maintaining primary contact relationships with targeted customers to maximize the lifetime value of these key relationships.

Building loyalty and driving profitable revenue growth by applying key customer relationship management principles including:

Resolving immediate customer concerns and account issues;

Actively managing a portfolio of targeted/high-value customers and/or segments of customers;

Developing and executing targeted client retention and expansion activities (develop and secure new business from existing portfolio base);

New customer acquisition activities, ensuring a more effective identification and cultivation of potentially high-value relationships;

Working to ensure that a coordinated and consistent message reaches targeted customers across all delivery/servicing channels;

Demonstrating strong solution-oriented sales and communication skills and effectively establishing rapport and credibility with customers;

Demonstrating leadership and team-building skills.

Handle other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)


4 year college degree or 5 years work experience in oil & gas

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years oil and gas experience


Personal computer

Demonstrated proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software

Supervisory Experience

3+ years

Preferred Qualifications


4 year college degree or 7+ years in oil & gas

Work Experience

7+ years oil & gas or real estate experience with greater emphasis on oil and gas


Trust Accounting

Industry data sources

Mineral accounting system

Supervisory Experience

5+ years
