Summary
Consistent with the Christian mission and Hope for Life vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Senior Program Director and Positive Beginnings Director, the Y-CAP Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the administration and operation of the Positive Beginnings Program. The Y-CAP Program Coordinator will help at-risk youth through academic assistance, life skills training and character development training. Other responsibilities include fundraising, community relations, expense control, and volunteer training.

Required Skills
• Minimum 18 years of age

• Four-year college degree in related field preferred

• Experience working with youth at risk

• Pre-hire: complete YMCA of Middle TN application for employment, new hire packet and Praesidium Child Abuse Detection / Prevention training; First Aid, BBP, CPR

Responsibilities
• Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility; model the “new way to work.”

• Ensure the safety of all children at all times.

• With the Positive Beginnings Director, continue to develop strong relationships with area schools and community partners.

• Accompany the Positive Beginnings Director to pick up students after school, and to drop them off at home after programming.

• Participate in recruitment of staff and volunteers for after school programming and for summer and fall camp.

• Develop the program around the 40 developmental assets.

• Represent the YMCA and maintain appropriate relationships with area organizations, community leaders and businesses.

• Communicate and promote the YMCA image and activities in the community.

• Attend any necessary meetings or functions on behalf of YMCA.

• Prepare and submit required reports to any and all funding and accountability sources.

• Maintain adequate records to evaluate, control, and measure the effectiveness of assigned areas of responsibilities.
