PRIMARY PURPOSE: Performs ultrasound exams in one or more to the four disciplines in ultrasound. These disciplines are: abdominal, obstetrical, cardiac and vascular. These technologists will operate the proper equipment, prepare the exam room, make technologist's interpretations to assist the radiologist in making a final diagnosis. These employees will be registered or be registry eligible in one or all of the four disciplines mentioned above. They will also follow established policies, procedures, standards and objectives of ultrasonic services.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must have compelted a certified ultrasound training program.
REGISTRATION CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION, LICENSE: Ultrasound certification required. CPR cortication required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Previous ultrasound technologist experience is preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Knows human anatomy, normal and abnormal, and can render a diagnostic description of both.
EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS KNOWLEDGE: Computers and other office equipment as it relates to job. Safety equipment as it relates to the job and patient care. Medical equipment as it relates to patient care. Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
