Literacy Consultant - Per Diem (DC)


Wireless Generation seeks dedicated and experienced educators ready to transform schools using innovative technological tools, data driven practices, collaborative planning and problem solving. Successful candidates will be part of a school literacy team who will support the staff in the use of Wireless Generation’s methodology, the Common Core State Standards and other proven strategies to boost student reading achievement through a three-year program of intensive, onsite support.

Responsibilities of the Literacy Consultant - Per Diem:
Coach school leadership teams and K-3 teachers in analyzing data and using data to inform instruction

Support data coaches and instructional coaches with implementation of the Common Core State Standards and facilitate meetings of Professional Learning Communities

Model whole group and small group literacy instruction

Observe teacher practice and provide feedback to individual teachers

Travel to schools daily to deliver services and build strong relationships

Participate in Wireless Generation's consultant certification process

Requirements of the Literacy Consultant - Per Diem:
Bachelor’s degree required, Masters of Education degree preferred

5+ years of K-3 classroom teaching experience required, 10+ years of experience with diverse populations preferred

Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and practices, including methods of differentiating instruction and fostering student engagement

Ability to model effective instruction for whole class and small groups Experience with cognitive coaching, meeting facilitation, and adult training

Instructional leadership experience preferred

Demonstrated data analysis skills

This position may be funded, in whole or in part, through American Recovery & Reinvestment Act funds
