At Spirit's North Carolina Composite Center of Excellence, all engineers will have sustaining stress or design duties in support of the product line. The MRB engineers will have the additional tasks of developing and documenting dispositions which repair/ rework the product to a condition that meets all design requirements and objectives. Initially, these dispositions will be approved or modified by more product experienced engineers in Wichita, KS or Prestwick, UK but the long term objective will be to develop sufficient product knowledge to allow dispositions to be approved in Kinston.


Ability to analyze a nonconforming condition and develop a repair/ rework methodology to return the product to a condition that meets all design requirements and objectives. Ability to analyze and understand the load paths, and functionality of mechanical, structural and aircraft systems. Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written. Knowledge and application ability of computer software such as Microsoft office and CATIA. Knowledge of assembly and production processes, manufacturing capabilities (e.g., composites, metallic structures, systems). Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain engineering technical information (e.g. drawings, process specifications, stress notes, design requirements and objectives). Knowledge and application ability of rework and repair processes for composite and metallic structure and systems. Composite knowledge and experience are highly desirable. Knowledge of product and process improvement methodologies. Knowledge of Mechanical, Structural and Systems Engineering design principles. ABET degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering is required.
