The VA Black Hills Health Care System (VA BHHCS) is located in the beautiful Black Hills of western South Dakota, where we are known for our blue skies, pine forests, rich history, moderate climate and friendly western hospitality. VA BHHCS provides primary and secondary medical and surgical care, along with residential rehabilitation treatment program (RRTP) services, extended nursing home care and tertiary psychiatric inpatient care services, for veterans residing in South Dakota and portions of Nebraska, North Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. Care is delivered through the Fort Meade (near Sturgis) and Hot Springs VA Medical Centers, as well as through a number of community-based outpatient and rural outreach clinics. The primary function of the Physical Therapist is to provide direct patient care. Incumbent independently develops and implements Physical Therapy treatment programs utilizing judgment to modify the treatment as a result of changing medical condition or because of a variety of severe physical and mental disabilities. Incumbent serves as an active member of the interdisciplinary team of this medical center servicing acute, extended care and outpatient clients.
Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.
Graduate from a degree program in physical therapy from an approved college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Education, Experience, and Licensure. In addition to meeting the basic requirements, completion of 1 year of progressively complex experience and a broader scope of experience equivalent to the next lower grade; or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree; or doctoral degree in physical therapy or a directly related field.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-11 LEVEL: Requires a minimum of one year of progressively complex experience and a broader scope of experience equivalent to the next lower grade.
SUBSTITUTING EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-11 LEVEL: Three years of progressively higher level graduate level graduate edication leading to a doctoral degree.
