We’re currently looking for an experienced and effective Senior Corporate Communications Manager to join our team. Our new colleague will be someone for whom conceiving, creating and delivering a range of effective and persuasive business communications is second nature. The ideal candidate will think at the strategic and conceptual level and act, simultaneously, as a highly-effective and productive individual contributor. This position will serve as one of the organization’s key content creation (writing) assets. So, in addition to conceiving of and managing various communications activities, a significant amount of writing, editing and proofreading will be required.
The position will report to the Senior Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications and will be a key member of Isilon’s marketing team. Deliverables may be print or web-based, and may include customer and/or employee newsletters, case studies, social media, web copy, blog posts, magazine-length articles, presentations, executive speeches, video scripts and a range of other things.
Create, manage, tune and deliver a broad range of communications materials and other resources to: advance Isilon’s corporate communications activities; develop Isilon’s brand; educate customers, employees and others; deepen Isilon’s corporate culture through clear and compelling internal communications and; further the company’s strategic objectives.
Define, manage and execute an internal/employee communications program utilizing all available and appropriate communications channels.
Manage and execute a range of executive communication opportunities. Activities may include speech writing, presentation development and all event-related execution actions.
Manage and execute key components of Isilon’s Executive Briefing Center and other customer-facing communication opportunities.
Consult with other areas of management or business units, sales departments, colleagues and agencies to most positively impact all corporate communications opportunities.
Maintain a working knowledge of Isilon’s products, services, strategies and operations. Apply that knowledge in developing communications deliverables.
Apply knowledge of customer needs and business issues in developing and delivering projects.
Identify opportunities for repurposing existing content for additional audiences or to add convenience for the consumption of the message by the target audience.
Rapidly solve problems, recognize potential issues and make decisions throughout a project that balance the need to meet a deadline and still meet the original requirements of the project.
Maintain appropriate brand messaging and standards.
Exceptionally strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with demonstrated experience generating executive-level presentations, newsletters, web copy, social media posts, product and sales materials, promotional copy and internal/employee communication vehicles.
Very strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
At least 5 years of progressive experience in marketing/corporate communications or agency environment with demonstrated experience working as a member of a creative team.
Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and with a fast paced team.
Experience in developing content for technology infrastructure products a plus (e.g., storage, server, networking; software, systems, or hardware).
Strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
Positive, high-energy, flexible contributor.
Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Four-year degree in marketing, communications, journalism or English preferred.
