Purpose of Role
To rigorously manage litigation and litigation risks across North America (except IP litigation), manage outside counsel and legal fees in an efficient and practical manner, and further develop systems/protocols that mitigate legal and business exposure, including e-discovery, so that the business can maximize its objectives.
Provide pro-active, commercially focused legal counsel and thought leadership to advance business activities and objectives vis-a-vis litigation risks.
This role requires an ability to:
Manage and influence senior stakeholders/colleagues across multiple business units
Think and advise commercially and strategically while maintaining a keen eye to detail
Strategically prioritize and manage a high volume workload in an efficient manner
Provide outcome-oriented thought leadership
Demonstrate a passion for deeply understanding the business, for continuous improvement and for advancing creative, practical solutions
Qualifications and Experience Required
BA/BS undergraduate degree, Juris Doctorate Degree and a state bar admission.
Minimum of 7 years legal experience
Superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Technical mastery of complex litigation, including class action experience
Excellent judgment and intuition, especially with respect to high stakes matters
Proven track record of leading/managing complex commercial litigation and effectively managing costs/external legal service partners
