The Health Sciences Center Office of Research at the University of New Mexico is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Technical Writer. This highly competitive position offers the ideal candidate an opportunity to participate in a challenging, dynamic, and fast-paced environment that supports leading edge health care research conducted in the UNM Health Sciences Center. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a mastery of organizational and coordination skills, and strong computer skills, including creating content for the web and creating and editing advanced level presentations in PowerPoint. The individual will be a quick learner who can adapt to needs as they arise and who will work collaboratively with executive leadership and management in the Office of Research and Clinical & Translational Science Center. Under general supervision, writes, edits and coordinates technical reports, brochures, and/or manuals for internal documentation, customer reference, or publication. Collects, researches, analyzes, and synthesizes available data and literature and verifies copy with appropriate departments. May coordinate production and distribution of materials. Bachelor's degree with 1 to 3 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
As demonstrated by application materials: Degree in English, Writing or similar field Experience in creating technical communication and executive correspondence in an academic environment Experience in creating, composing and editing written materials Experience working in a research focused environment Knowledge of UNM HSC organization and administrative structure Experience organizing resources and establishing priorities Strong MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access skills

Candidates for this position must be eligible for employment as verified by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA); those individuals on the OIG/GSA Exclusion Lists will not be considered for hire.
