SAIC Energy, Environment and Infrastructure, LLC is looking for a talented project architect with a career path that is technology-focused to fill a key-role of an Architectural BIM Lead position to join our AE sector. We have openings in the following locations: Oklahoma City OK, St. Paul MN, and St Louis MO. This individual will have extensive capabilities in their own architectural building discipline and a strong understanding of multi-discipline design and construction industry fundamentals. In addition, we require our discipline-specific BIM leaders to have deep knowledge and a long documented history of executing Building Information Modeling methodologies and trends along with solid experience in BIM software specifically Autodesk based application verticals such as Revit Architecture and Navisworks as part of their daily design authoring experience.

In this position, the successful candidate will provide value-proposition to our company’s overall BIM strategy through multiple project-based design / BIM contributions at the office level complementing and completing our in-place company-wide BIM ecosystem. Through the applicant’s combined knowledge of architectural discipline and BIM experience, this position will work with the existing Revit-trained architectural staff to lead efforts on multiple projects. This includes producing architectural modeling, developing advanced content, computational design iterations to facilitating and setting an example of a BIM thinker approach on project design as well as working with other discipline – specific BIM leads to run coordination meetings for virtual projects walkthroughs to achieve an integrated project approach.

Our strategy involves a solid BIM roadmap that takes in account a full projects lifecycle and includes leveraging technologies such as mobile and cloud computing solutions. Aside from the above requirements, the architectural BIM lead will work closely and report to the Senior BIM Leadership group at corporate to act as the bridge between them and the office discipline to ensure a solid company-wide BIM adoption and constructive feedback communication based on lessons learned and staff needs.

Job Responsibilities

Projects Support Tasks:
• Expert level in Autodesk Revit Architecture and Navisworks
• Advanced Arch. modeling techniques / Revit problem solving in a multi-discipline environment
• Experience in developing Revit-based prototype designs and template creation is a big plus
• Model integration experience, breaking down models and leveraging linking / copy monitor
• Understanding the critical aspects of managing models across LAN/WAN/Revit Server
• Advanced architectural content development: type catalog, share parameters / components
• Progressive use of Revit content for scheduling discipline components and quantifying real-time
• Ability to adopt complex Revit templates and become the expert on them relatively quickly
• Implementing and managing design-scenarios through design options tools in Revit
• Project model management for own discipline and coordinate with other BIM disciplines leads
• Produce advanced constructions documents for Arch. Discipline from BIM Models
Team BIM Support Tasks:
• Communicate accurately and promptly at a discipline, technical and project levels with staff
• Provide Tier one and two level support on BIM / Revit related tasks to architectural team
• Recommend and lead Revit spot training lunches to arch. Discipline based on challenges
• Ensure overall health of BIM / Revit performance on the projects
• Lead by example a BIM mind-set, teach and educate staff on how to do business differently
• Represent Architectural discipline at BIM kick-off meetings for projects
BIM Coordination Tasks
• Represent Arch. Discipline in clash detection and conflict resolution sessions
• Run clash-detection, produce, issue tracking logs and follow-up to ensure resolution of conflicts
• Work with Senior BIM Interoperability Specialist to provide input on needs for Revit API development to enhance efficiency in Revit platforms
• Ability to work with other downstream design platforms: AutoCAD, Plant, CADworx conversions and linking inside of Revit as necessary by coordinating with outside consultants
• Experience and knowledge of BIM importance beyond modeling and documentation to include aspects such as pre-fabrication downstream, phasing and planning will be a big plus.
• Documented expertise in leveraging the integration of BIM tools with Mechanical engineering – specific tools to design intelligently and real-time with other disciplines is a must.
Undergraduate degree in Architecture or related field
• 7 – 10 years of architectural project production and execution
• 6 – 8 years of solid and progressive Revit Architecture experience, including leadership
• Advanced to Expert levels in Autodesk Revit Architecture and Navisworks
• Solid understanding and documented experience in Architectural BIM project execution
• Eager to support staff with assertive, positive and patient attitude
• Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion
• Leveraging sustainable and day-lighting analysis software tools for BIM models such as Autodesk Vasari, Ecotect, IES and GBS and integrating those with the Revit authoring tools are a big plus
• Ability to work closely with BIM corporate staff to communicate key BIM issues
• Passionate about BIM and have a solid and documented portfolio of leveraging BIM beyond 3D modeling and 2D documentation
