Position Summary

Work closely with the Pro Bono Counsel/Director and the Pro Bono Committee to manage the administration of the Pro Bono Program. Provide daily support to the Pro Bono Counsel, and other STB lawyers, in connection with the representation of a wide variety of pro bono clients.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Serve as an information source for attorneys handling pro bono matters
  • Manage, track, and process approval of new pro bono matters
  • Maintain pro bono databases and tracking systems
  • Monitor status of active pro bono matters
  • Assist with preparation of reports and surveys
  • Plan and execute pro bono events and legal trainings/CLE’s
  • Provide Spanish and French translation and other legal assistance to teams of attorneys representing pro bono clients
  • Attend pro bono clinics and assist with intake and referral process
  • Create reports and assist with staffing in connection with ongoing pro bono clinics
  • Work with Pro Bono Counsel to increase involvement of attorneys in the pro bono program
  • Assist with management of the Public Service Fellowship Program and the Pro Bono Externship Program
  • Assist with writing and production of tri-annual Pro Bono Newsletter
  • Maintain and update the pro bono SharePoint website
  • Prepare responses to auditors for pro bono matters
  • Additional duties as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Fluency in oral and written English; Spanish is highly desirable and French is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong aptitude for detail
  • Demonstrated interest in public service and serving low income communities
  • Familiarity with law firms or public interest legal organizations
  • Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently, at times with minimal supervision
  • Excellent judgment, including sensitivity to confidential information
  • Flexible work attitude; the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a small staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to successfully interact with a variety of people, including senior professionals and low-income clients
