Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Engineering & Maintenance Manager will lead a team of 2-4 engineers and 12-14 maintenance technicians to deliver required results in productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
Daily activities include support of operations on the production floor, process and equipment improvements, providing data-driven analysis for effective decision making and process improvements in methodologies, resource allocation, system design, materials management and other manufacturing processes. This position is responsible for providing technical support in defining and documenting best manufacturing practices, and ensuring product quality by establishing standards, testing methods, testing finished product, and completing action items on time and within budget.
- Provide strong & committed leadership to the team and the facility · Champion disciplined use of CMMS for maintenance planning, work assignment and tracking, MRO parts / tooling ordering and inventory control · Oversee the maintenance store room and tool crib to control spending · Plan, design, and implement process enhancements to improve quality and eliminate waste · Make recommendations for selection of suppliers, materials and machines · Remove production bottlenecks, reduce cycle times and improve the facility layout · Implement technical corrective actions and solve complex manufacturing problems · Implement lean manufacturing principles · Deliver required business results
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Industrial or Metallurgical)
Minimum 10 years in a metal turning or other precision machining environment
Strong and effective leadership skills
Minimum 5 years managing people & teams in a manufacturing environment
Excellent business acumen
Demonstrated ability to drive waste elimination
Successful track record of delivering productivity improvements
Strong project management skills
Lean manufacturing experience
Experience utilizing CMMS for maintenance planning and MRO parts ordering / inventory management
Understanding and prior experience with quality tools such as SPC, QFD, FMEA, DoE, PPAP, etc.
Knowledge of CNC machining practices including, turning, Milling, grinding, multiple spindle screw machines and conventional machining practices
Knowledge/experience with CNC programming and machine tool optimization
Knowledge/experience with special processes including, but not limited to heat treatment, metal plating, coating, welding and EDM
Knowledge of inspection equipment and methods used in the machining environment
Proficient with Pro/E and AutoCAD
Ability to communicate comfortably with all levels within an organization
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
