This position combines the responsibilities of a Staff RN and Education Specialist (I, II or III). It is intended primarily for Education Specialists with a large emphasis acting as Staff RN by providing patient care. The incumbent can be one of three levels of an Education Specialist; however, the minimum requirements for this position is a Bachelors Degree, as opposed to a Masters Degree.
Staff RN - Provides general nursing care to patients and families along the health illness continuum while collaborating with the healthcare team. Accountable for the practice of nursing as defined by the state statutes.
Education Specialist I or II
Guides professional nurses and others to maximize their performance. Responsible for maintaining education practice standards in providing leadership for the educational process. Fulfills the roles of educator, facilitator, project manager, mentor, consultant, and researcher and supports performance improvement activities. Assesses educational needs. Assists in the planning & designing of programs. Implements and evaluates education.
Education Specialist III
The roles of the Employee Education Specialist III (EES III) emerge from the American Nurses Association Standards of Practice for Professional Development. The roles consist of educator, facilitator, consultant, leader, change agent and researcher. The EES III integrates ethical principles in all aspects of practice, supports process improvement activities and promotes life-long learning. The EES III provides leadership to professional nursing and others to maximize employee performance and to insure quality patient care that supports both Grant Medical Centers and Riverside Methodist Hospitals Visions and Goals
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Holds current registered nurse license from the State of Ohio. Bachelors in Nursing.
Knowledge in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. BCLS certification. BLS Instructor. Knowledge in the nursing process with expertise in adult learning and staff development. Some experience with Change and Systems Theories, Performance Improvement, role and team development and evaluation processes.
EXPERIENCE: One to three years clinical with some teaching.

Education Specialist to support the Orthopedic division located on two units (6 Yellow & 4Yellow East). Orthopedic experience preferred. Need strong communication skills, organization and time management.
