DUTIES: This position is for a fully trained Board Certified or Board Eligible neurologist. The physician will be a member of Medical Service working in the Neurology Section and participate in patient care and teaching activities as assigned. The staff neurologist will participate in neurology inpatient consults, neurology clinic and call. The neurologist will contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, write orders for diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, consult with specialty services and utilize computerized/electronic medical records. The physician will provide both inpatient and outpatient care in accordance with professional standards, core values and commitment to service excellence. Additionally, the neurologist will be experienced in performing/interpreting EMGs, EEGs and have interests in SCI, dementia, movement disorders and neuromuscular diseases. This position also includes teaching medical students, and residents.Salary: To be determined by a Physician Pay Panel, consisting of your peers, based on your education and experienceRelocation/Recruitment incentive has not been approved for this positionRelocation expenses will not be reimbursedThis position is covered by the bargaining unitWork Schedule: Part-Time

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizenship: Citizen of the United StatesLicensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. You must be licensed as MD or DO for this position. In some cases, these may be substituted for experience and education.English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d)
Physical Standards: Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. This is a designated drug testing position. After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensureIN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC.
