Assist the director and/or operations manager in the supervision of technical area or shift, assuming responsibility of all procedures performed and all systems within that area of assignment.
Assist the Director in the supervision of an area or shift.
Follows established procedures and requirements set forth by the General Supervisor in each individual department.
Prepares departmental staffing schedules under the direction of the Director.
Trains and orients new employees, evaluates assigned personnel, recommends salary adjustment, terminations, etc., carries out disciplinary procedures.
Interviews new applicants, recommending for hire, transfer or promotion.
Reviews workload and guides staff in additional studies regarding problems related to correlation of test results and disease states.
Ensures that test are performed in a timely manner, particularly in STAT situations, coordinates timed test with nursing personnel and other departments.
Prepares Time and Attendance and other reports.
Works with nursing regarding questionable test, duplicate test or other questions relating to the general laboratory.
Prepares personnel/operating/capital budgets based on area needs.
Resolves grievances, takes disciplinary action as necessary.
Supervises all technical aspect of an area or shift.
Coordinates with pathologist on unusual test results, diagnostic reports or computer functions.
Recognized problems with test procedures/laboratory data/computer system functions that indicate
Acts as a resource person for technical or computer system problems.
Prepares preventive maintenance and quality control schedules in conjunction with the general
Inspects instruments and computer hardware, ensuring proper working order and
troubleshooting as necessary.
Oversees special procedures and difficult clinical assays.
Acts in an administrative capacity at assigned committees and organizations.
Performs the duties of a Medical Technologist as needed.
Has the skills and ability to step into any position under his/her supervision.
Maintains current knowledge of new procedures, developments, techniques and methods regarding laboratory services.
Maintains a clean, organized, and sanitary work area, observing OSHA guidelines.
- Position requires Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology
One year management experience in Point-of-care testing.
- Three to five years experience in Point-of-care testing.
