Hanger Orthopedic Group, Inc., dedicated to serving the Orthotic and Prosthetic community has an opening for a Senior Systems Engineer. This role is responsible for ensuring the success of the Company’s IT Department in achieving its strategic and financial goals. This position is accountable for the organization’s technical platform infrastructure. The principal function of the Senior Systems Engineer position is to plan and management the installation, configuration and tuning of SAN and storage hardware and software including DR appliances according to best practices, while ensuring high levels of data quality and availability for all enterprise and Hanger customers in a 24x7 Enterprise Storage Systems environment including but not limited to NetApp, IBM, EMC, and Hitachi SAN storage devices.
Demonstrated working proficiency in SAN fabric management (ISLs, utilization, zoning, masking, etc.).
Knowledge with the following SAN hardware and software for Cisco, Brocade and/or McData fabric architectures.
Administer hardware components specifically focused on NetApp, but may also include EMC, HP, 3PAR and Hitachi
Advance skills: Familiar with all storage systems and backup environments. Interpreting storage protocols including ISCSI, Fiber Channel, CIFS, NFS, NDMP protocols and hardware, which use these products.
Maintain partnerships, and leverage market technologies associated with SAN vendors, product enhancements, and product roadmaps to determine how they can be beneficially applied to the Hanger Enterprise.
Maintain current knowledge of storage-related trends and issues including current emerging technologies and best practices.
Provide capacity planning, performance analysis, develop disaster recovery plans, lead efforts towards storage consolidation, and identify storage growth, manager configurations of storage media and storage management software.
Secondary duties include being a technical consultant in the area of IT Backup. To provide technical expertise, guidance, and strategic recommendations to develop a roadmap that ensures that the current and planned technical backup solutions are compatible with the company's business needs and strategic objectives.
Develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent storage provisioning, uptime, regulatory compliance and data protection.
Willingness to manage a 24x7x365 storage and backup environment including on-call rotation, weekend work, etc.
Extensive experience in design and documentation of backup/restore strategies via enterprise class backup solutions such as VERITAS NetBackup and automated tape library systems.
Supporting storage in a VMware virtualization environment
Experience designing or implementing one or more Microsoft enterprise services such as Exchange, SharePoint, SQL, Active Directory, Windows Server 2008 R2.
Manage and provide current disk/tape storage usage statistics, provide future projected growth estimates
Ability to plan, document, and effectively implement projects and systems
Demonstrated ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment with many deadlines and competing priorities
Experience with Data Replication, Snap Shots and Virtualization Technology
Knowledge of Networking, Routing and Switching Technologies
Windows Server Administration
Education and Certifications:
BS Degree in technical discipline
Vendor CERTS for NetApp, HP, IBM, 3PAR or Hitachi are a plus
Required Skills and Competencies:
5+ years’ experience plan, design, configuration and support of large enterprise SAN's environments.
3+ years with NetApp, IBM, EMC and Hitachi SAN Storage
3+ years performing capacity planning, performance analysis, and development of data disaster recovery plans
Able to communicate clearly with peers as well as management.
Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups.
Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules and priorities.
The ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations and gather team consensus to move forward.
Excellent communication, writing, meeting facilitation skills
