DuPont is seeking are looking for an exceptional Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Competency Manager for their cellulosic ethanol plant in Nevada, Iowa. The manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of SHE Affairs programs. The role will include Construction/ Contractor Safety oversight during plant construction and will also have an operations focus, including leadership and direction of the site SHE programs, including process safety via the High Performance Work Teams.
This person must be able to support the RC Star Point team with their understanding and compliance of applicable local, state, and federal regulations and meet internal DuPont SHE policies and standards. This requires interacting with internal DuPont and appropriate external regulatory networks to stay abreast of applicable standards and regulations. The SHE Manager is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of regulatory reporting.
This position requires travel to other sites for training before being based out of Nevada, Iowa.
The SHE Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
Oversight of, and collaboration on, site contractor safety protocols, programs and compliance
Conducts training on SHE programs, standards and compliance issues
Assists in the preparation and submittal of reports to regulatory agencies as required by law
Effective administration of SHE records/data
Implementation/Administration of site MSDS/SDS inventory and program
Maintains and ensures compliance with site SHE related permits (there are internal DuPont experts who can provide assistance or guidance) and applicable DuPont SHE standards
Interacts with regulatory agencies to assess and influence site regulatory requirements
Evaluates SHE site implications of new product introductions and process changes
Implements and manages behavior-based safety programs
Manages SHE budgets, assisting with development, tracking, measuring and reporting
Manages SHE data for regulatory compliance and corporate reporting
Leads SHE cross-functional team, including SHE audits, root cause analysis of incidents/ accidents, identifying and implementing needed training for the site
Facilitates and leads the investigation of site SHE incidents
Participates in routine RC, safety, PSM, and other SHE meetings
Trains teams and provides topics/coaching for team related safety and RC meetings
Collaborates closely with SHE cluster, SHE regional and SHE corporate through networks and provides exposure for RC Star Point to these networks where appropriate

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene or related field (preferred)
Experience working in Construction activities as part of a Safety team
3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of Safety, Contractor Safety, Occupational Health, Process Safety Management, Fire Protection, Environmental, Distribution, Ergonomics, Driving Safety
Expert level knowledge of SHE strategy; Compliance and Regulatory needs, including competency networks
Has capability to establish and maintain effective management systems
Coaching/Mentoring capabilities for individuals and teams Capability to connect with business or corporate SHE leadership to develop appropriate site SHE critical operating tasks (COT’s) to meet corporate SHE COT's or directives
Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with site/business community and regulatory agencies
Broad knowledge of SHE related Federal and State agencies
Ability to analyze SHE performance trends and implement cost effective programs for continuous improvement
Demonstrate strong organizational and communications skills, including public speaking
Demonstrated ability to collaborate, utilize networking skills and develop/grow interpersonal relations
