A Security Officer works as an empowered employee within established guidelines, procedures and protocols in order to provide administrative and dispatching support for the care, welfare, safety, services and security of hospital personnel, visitors, patients and property.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patrols the facility and grounds and reports findings on security issues, parking, policy compliance, safety issues and other important matters.
Posts at designated areas, perform assigned duties and report any unusual occurrences.
Serves as an ambassador for Children's Healthcare, by maintaining proper grooming and dress and appearance as outlined in departmental protocol.
Exceed customer (patients, families, visitors, staff, and physicians) expectations by always practicing the departmental and System customer service values and using sound judgement.
Performs duties in the Control Center to include:
monitoring alarms (fire, boiler, panic, code blue, etc)
making code announcements.
issuing sleep rooms.
issuing car seats.
assisting customers as needed.
any other service/emergency functions.
Intervenes in crisis situations and assists Social Work, DFACS, Law Enforcement, Risk management, Safety, Nursing, Administration, etc. in the protection of personnel, patients, visitors and property.
Monitors the hospital CCTV system when instructed and reports any unusual events to the Security Charge Officer.
Remains up to date on current security and professional issues through readings and self-study.
Ensures cleanliness and organization of assigned post and vehicles.
Provides valet parking for Board members, VIPs, patients, etc as needed and directed.
Drives the shuttle and aggressively seeks riders.
Completes motorist assists (to include tire change and battery jumps) in a helpful and cheerful manner. Provides directions and walks visitors to areas when possible, and provides any other assistance as needed.
Provides escorts to anyone requesting this service.
High School diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
Valid Georgia driver's license.
Ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions.
Two years experience in the Security, Law Enforcement, Military or public relations fields are necessary.
Ability to function independently of constant supervision.
Ability to apply sound judgment and confidentiality in handling of sensitive information.
Must have the following skills and aptitudes:
calmness under stress
alertness and observation
ability to write accurate reports
knowledge of the use of a personal computer
CPR certification required to be completed at orientation or within three months from hire date.
