Independently research and lead in high power density, high frequency, medium/high power converter design projects, including supervising and advising of graduate students. Conduct research and innovative development in very high frequency power conversion technologies, including power module packaging with new wide-band-gap devices, high density EMI filter optimization for high switching frequencies, and active and passive component hybrid integration and packaging, for wide range of applications, such as hybrid / all-electric vehicles, more-electric aircraft, electric ships, and sustainable energy utilization. The successful candidate is expected to plan and conduct all assigned research projects independently, continuously devise new approaches to problems as well as plan, conduct and coordinate all phases of the work, perform conventional and non-traditional techniques and approaches of problem solving for research, and supervise graduate students. Responsibilities include the following: - Independent research under limited guidance from senior academic personnel - Project planning, execution, and interpretation of research results - Assisting in preparation of research proposals for funding - Preparation of professional presentations, reports, and publications - Collaborative work with peers to achieve research objectives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned Ph.D. in electrical engineering - Significant experience in design of high power density converters, module packaging, active & passive component integration, and EMI filter design and optimization - Demonstrated ability to work independently and produce significant research results - Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate research ideas and results
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in research project leadership and management - Strong work habits and the ability to work with colleagues within a research group - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel in the organization
