The Authority is seeking a highly motivated Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, DS-12.

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for planning corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance work orders using the Maximo CMMS. Performs initial job screening, analyses job requirements, conducts job research and builds detailed job plans. Ensures that all internal partners of Maintenance receive timely, efficient, and quality services. Assists in the development of reliability based maintenance strategy, based on preventive and predictive maintenance. Responsible for selecting and describing the most efficient and optimal way to perform the job. Assists Operations in balancing their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through pro-active maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
As a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler performs the below listed essential functions in one of the specialty areas – Electrical, Mechanical, or Instrumentation.

  • Receives all unplanned request for non-emergency maintenance work. Visits the job site and determines, using extensive knowledge of the trade, the nature of the problem or repair request; selects and describes the most efficient and optimal way to perform the job; determines and sequences the job by specific and logical tasks or steps; and determines resource requirements.
  • Assemblies the planned job package which contains: detailed work order(s); job plan detail by task; labor deployment plan by craft and skill; bill of material, acquisition plan – parts procurement; required permits, clearances, etc.; and prints, sketches, photos, special procedures, specifications, sizes, tolerances, and other technical references that the assigned crew is likely to have need for in job execution.
  • Releases job for scheduling only when all required resources (other than manpower) are on-hand.
  • Responsible for the custodianship of the CMMS. Ensures orderly and timely transition of work orders from the request stage to the “schedule ready” backlog. Ensures that equipment numbering for all equipment exists and is maintained. Develops a PM program for every piece of equipment, in conjunction with maintenance management. Maintains equipment history. Works with maintenance management to review the history trends and makes recommendations for improvements. Analyzes the backlog, ensuring all planned work is prioritized and backlog relief exists. Responsible for the integrity of the preventive maintenance database.
  • Plans for shutdowns (major and minor). Keeps the Maintenance management properly informed of abnormal or critical situations and refers only novel or unusual situations to supervisor for guidance. Makes recommendations on systems improvement. Promotes the conservation of energy.
  • Assists in determining corrective measures needed to improve the accuracy of estimating and improving methods of doing the work. Assists in periodically analyzing costs and, where necessary, recommends corrective action needed to reduce maintenance costs. Participates in budgetary preparation, tracking, and analysis. Assists the Maintenance management and Operations partners in periodic analysis of cost trends with recommendations for continual improvements.
  • Performs long-range and short range planning which includes the regular analysis of backlog relative to available resources. Provides data to support annual budget and staffing requirements.
  • Complies with applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Prepares regular and special reports.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the immediate supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - As a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler (Electrical):

  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field from an accredited college or university and seven (7) years of progressive experience performing maintenance planning and/or scheduling functions; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of progressive experience performing maintenance planning and/or scheduling functions; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS - As a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler (Electrical):

  • Extensive knowledge of wastewater treatment equipment required; including, but not limited to, Motors, Motor Control Centers, Circuit Breakers, Electrical Wiring, Lighting, Variable Frequency Drives, Control Valves, Gate Actuators, Eddie Current Drives and the National Electrical Code standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - As a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler (Mechanical):

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field from an accredited college or university and seven (7) years of progressive experience performing maintenance planning and/or scheduling functions; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of progressive experience performing maintenance planning and/or scheduling functions; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS - As a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler (Mechanical):

  • Extensive knowledge of wastewater treatment equipment required; including, but not limited to, pumping systems, grit removal, screening, clarifiers, thickeners, centrifuges, conveyors, chemical addition systems, centrifugal blowers, process gates and valves.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - As a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler (Instrumentation):

  • Associate’s degree in Instrumentation Technology or related field from an accredited college, university, or technical school and seven (7) years of progressive experience performing maintenance planning and/or scheduling functions for digital process control equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of progressive experience performing maintenance planning and/or scheduling functions for digital process control equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS - As a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler (Instrumentation):

  • Extensive knowledge of wastewater treatment equipment required; including, but not limited to, Programmable Logic Controllers, Flow Meters (Mag, Ultrasonic, Venturi), Level Sensors (All Types), Variable Frequency Drives, Operator Interface Terminals. Bus Communications (ex Foundation, profibus), ISA Standards, Wireless communications and Distributed control systems.
In addition, all specialty areas include:
  • Preference for certification as a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) from the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP).
  • Thorough knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems. Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software. Skill in using computer desktop, project tracking, and engineering design programs.
  • Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in the area of electrical operations and maintenance. Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings. Sketching ability.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to interact independently with staff at all levels, cross-functional teams, and external entities
  • Subject to indoor and/or outdoor environmental conditions that include exposure to extreme cold and/or hot temperatures.
  • Subject to noise, vibration, and to hazards from a variety of physical conditions.
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system or skin such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, chemicals, sewage, activated sludge, lubricants, and other cutting fluids, and requires wearing personal protective equipment.
