Position Description:
The Carver College of Medicine (CCOM) at the University of Iowa seeks candidates for Director of the University of Iowa Cardiovascular Research Center (CVC). The successful candidate will have a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor on the tenure track. The CCOM has a distinguished teaching, research and clinical faculty and is part of a major research university. The CCOM ranks 12th among public medical schools in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding with over $144 million in annual support, $25 million of which supports Cardiovascular Research. The CVC has trained basic and clinical scientists for over three decades and offers a comprehensive range of research opportunities throughout the Carver College of Medicine and across the campus. Hallmarks of the CVC include a T32 post-doctoral training grant, which has been continuously funded since 1975 as well as a repertoire of Center and Program Project Grants.

The University of Iowa Cardiovascular Research Center was established in 1975. Over 160 investigators from 25 departments and multiple colleges collaborate on a broad range of scientific investigations. The Director will oversee a large and vibrant research administration core. Responsibilities include faculty recruitment; oversight of educational and research programs; development or promotion of interdisciplinary research, fiscal planning and management; and short term and long term strategic planning.

Education Requirement:
Candidates must have a previous record of accomplishment consistent with appointment as a tenured Associate Professor or Professor. They must have an MD and/or PhD degree or equivalent and an outstanding record of accomplishments in research.
