About the Opportunity

OpenSky is looking for an experienced Sr. Manager (Software Testing) to lead a team of associates and contractors in the testing of business applications ensuring adherence to test processes while meeting the goals of the projects.

This senior manager will need to have Testing Leadership experience; brining though leadership to the Testing Center of Excellence (TCOE). One major transition over 2013 will be to migrate to a more centralized TCOE model.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Coaches and develops associates.

Interacts with Development, Business Analysts, Systems Engineering, Enterprise

Architecture, Change Management and other teams to ensure project success.

Works closely with the business partners to ensure needs are met and any issues are resolved with minimal impact.

KEY CHALLENGES

Balancing multiple projects to be completed within allotted time, budget, meeting quality requirements, realigning as needed to match business priorities.

Managing testing requirements for highly scalable and integrated enterprise applications.

Maintaining strong vendor relationships while challenging the vendors to meet commitments.

Developing assigned associates to maintain a qualified and motivated staff.

Responsibilities:
This a hands on role and will lead/manage a team in the development and maintenance of time estimates and schedules, drives test deliverables, monitors progress and provides accurate and timely reporting.

Ensures the timely acquisition of resources to support project needs.

Monitors relationships with testing vendors including service level agreements, metrics and status for assigned projects.

Maintains budget, timesheet approvals, ITBF, project schedules, adherence to estimates and processes monthly invoices.

Supports test activities in accordance with policies, standards, processes and methodology.

Resolves escalations ensuring project impediments are resolved as quickly as possible.

Leads team in partnership with subject matter experts in the development of complex enterprise testing strategies.

Conduct performance management, career guidance and training planning for direct report team members

Ensures that all direct reports and their teams are trained in the skills and tools of test, project management, and other required competencies of the test function.

Drives continuous improvement seeking opportunities to lead transformation in the software testing space.

Required Skills:
Solid understanding of ERP/CRM’s such as Oracle, SAP, etc.

B.S. /B.A. or M.B.A. /M.S. in computer science, engineering, or information systems preferred, and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.

10 years proven experience in software testing.

5+ years of increasing management experience that includes responsibility for formally assessing associate performance.

Experience Managing an Oracle Testing Team in an Enterprise Testing Environment

3+ years of Oracle Retail and Red Prairie Preferred in an Enterprise Testing Environment

Experience estimating and managing resources, budget and project scope

Experience managing vendor relationships.

Experience leading testing efforts for commercial off-the-shelf implementations in an enterprise environment.

Experience using test tools, such as HP Quality Center, in the management of software testing projects.

Experience employing tools such as HP Quality Center, HP Performance Center,

HP QTP and ITKO Lisa appropriately throughout the software testing lifecycle.

Strong analytical skills, be able to identify and resolve technical challenges.

Self-motivated with the ability to learn quickly.

Excellent communication skills, verbal & written, and organizational and interpersonal skills.

Ability to handle multiple large projects simultaneously.

Ability to work in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision.

Ability to think tactically & strategically in technical and business discussions.

Strong project management skills.

Experience with multiple development methodologies (e.g. waterfall, agile).
