Job Family: Data Center Operations
The primary objective of the position is to provide operational support within the Global Hosting Center (GHC) for the Linux operating system and the related applications, as well as to provide support, where possible, in other functional areas supported by the GHC.
The responsibilities include Linux server operating system (all versions) and infrastructure application installation and support. This will also include enterprise backup tools and enterprise virtualization tools (VMWare and HyperV) that support the Linux platform.
Hardware supported includes HP/IBM storage solutions (EVA, MSA, and XIV), HP rack and blade servers, and Cisco Storage Area Networking equipment.
This role will be the primary point of contact and 'Subject Matter Expert' for installation and support of Linux and Linux supporting infrastructure within the Global Hosting Center. The role will also involve training of peers around those technical skills and related processes

Accountable for execution according to established standards, procedures, and processes Cross-Functional support for development and implementation of systems Ensure data center systems are always available and reliable Ensure optimization and performance of the hardware and virtual infrastructure Develop controls and measurements to monitor progress Monitor the Service Desk system and Respond to and manage service issues and problems Ensure all activity and communications meets SLA's Change Control - Participate in change process as well as review and approve changes specifically within Infrastructure Operations Participate in post mortem activities and report generation Report any breaches in information security or policies Responsible for awareness and compliance to policy and guidelines of the ISMS for Infrastructure Services Work with vendors to ensure efficient and effective service delivery Monitor the Service Desk system and respond to and manage service issues and problems Participate in planned "Systems Day" and other maintenance activities Participate in a 24x7x365 On-Call rotation
Coach others Participation in global working groups responsible for the deployment and development of global technology systems and infrastructure Provide input into peer performance reviews Mentoring of staff on technical process and procedure
Knowledge Sharing / Documentation
Collate data and distribute daily and monthly operational reports OR Produce daily and monthly reports on activities and service failures Contribute to, produce and maintain processes, procedures, operational and architectural documentation, that meet DTS Standards. Change Control - Ensure compliance with processes and adherence to standards and documentation Management of documents and processes Train new staff in technical processes and procedures Work with CTO leadership and applications teams in reviewing new documentation
Education (degree): Bachelor's Degree/College Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
Years of Experience: 8-10 years engineering experience in large global enterprise environment (ideally Microsoft & Linux based)
Has a basic knowledge and background of all Solutions Architecture technologies, processes and issues, sufficiently enough to be able to understand how to proceed further and advise our with peer guidance to stakeholders Demonstrated ability to specify data collection and thresholds and to analyze complex results. Provides recommendations or solutions including basic linear trending. Exhibits knowledge of management reporting process and guidelines. Ability to participate in the business impact assessment and risk assessment processes and help identify appropriate controls to mitigate identified risks. Understands and can communicate requirements of member firms and external regulatory bodies for data privacy. Contributes to and is consulted during infrastructure architectural activities by applying select architectural techniques and technical knowledge. Understands and leverages infrastructure architectural principles for cross-functional purposes. Works with vendors as well as internally. Demonstrates expertise of IT governance concepts. Understands and able to manage the relationships of all OIM relevant stakeholders. Understand the portfolio and the business drivers of the various components. Supports the execution of the primary goals of IT Governance. Knowledge of performance testing process and methodology for different types of software projects. Knowledge of standard performance testing processes and techniques. Strong ability to understand business requirements. Provides strong analysis of performance testing results. Executes design activities leveraging knowledge of all architecture design techniques; Ensures design is consistent with solution architecture; Ensures adherence to design standards; Performs technology proofs-of-concept to support design approaches Monitors consistency in written materials; Assesses the audience needs and level of understanding for written materials; Contributes samples and leading practices in the area of written materials Builds collaborative alliances with major external technology vendors and understands critical information about future-oriented technologies; Directly manages the contracting of service agreements and influences vendors regarding product development / enhancements based on organizational objectives
Detailed knowledge of the build process for SUSE / Red Hat Detailed knowledge of security and the application of security settings to a Linux environment Detailed knowledge of the patch release process from SUSE / Red Hat Experience with Linux integration to Operational Management systems (Preferably SCOM) Experience of anti-virus and Host Intruder Detection software on Linux platforms Experience of integrating Linux with other directories for authentication (Preferably AD and LDAP) Experience of configuration management solutions for Linux and the automation of updates across numerous systems Experience of backup and high availability solutions for Linux Experience of creating virtual machine templates preferably on VMware Understanding of software licensing in a Linux environment
Experience with AD integration products (Quest, Centrify) Experience of any Linux desired configuration products (Tripwire etc.) Experience of performance tuning and performance monitoring tools on Linux Any skills or experience across the whole LAMP stack Any scripting skills to automate operational tasks
