Instruct students one to one and in small groups. Serves as primary instructor during clinic rotations in infection control and instrument processing, radiography, clinical assistant duties and patient screening. Responsible for grading and assessment of students during these activities. Works closely with the clinical instructional coordinator to facilitate integration of didactic coursework into the clinical setting. Work collaboratively with dental hygiene faculty and department administrators regarding the changing needs of the dental hygiene program including clinical instructional changes. Accountable for the day-to-day operation of the Dental Hygiene Clinical and Lab facilities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Instruct students one-to-one and in small groups during rotation assignments and clinical orientation regarding techniques, clinic protocol, risk management, and equipment care in the clinical facility. Grade and assess assigned students during clinical sessions and participate in computerized grade management. Attend dental hygiene academic team meetings and participate in curriculum evaluation and management. Works closely with the clinical instructional coordinator to facilitate integration of didactic coursework into the clinical setting. Collaborate with dental hygiene faculty and department administrators regarding assignments to meet the changing needs of the dental hygiene program including clinical changes. Provide management of the clinical and lab facilities. Includes infection control and instrument processing during clinic and lab operation, quality assurance measures, maintenance of the Dental Hygiene Program Equipment Manual, emergency cart contents, inventory management, and quality assurance logs. Responsible for routine equipment maintenance, and scheduling of repairs, as approved by the program director/academic team leader. Maintains OSHA and Radiation Safety compliance. Provide support to community or program dental hygiene activities in which LCC dental hygiene program participates. Provide back-up support to the clinical and program office areas. Other duties in line with the program's mission and accreditation standards.
Education: Bachelor's degree and equivalent of two (2) years full time professional experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist (licensed and in good standing with the State of Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry) required. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in dental office software applications, and Microsoft Word and Excel. Prior experience training/teaching/coaching/tutoring/mentoring others within your profession or community groups. Core Competencies: Demonstrate knowledge and coursework in educational methodology Demonstrate knowledge and application of the Dental Hygiene Program Curriculum, Program and Risk management manual content specific to patient and risk management Demonstrates an understanding of compliance with the accreditation standards of the Commission on Dental Accreditation in relation to clinical operations Demonstrate working knowledge of computer software, including Eaglesoft, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, or other software used by the college to perform work Demonstrate knowledge of college and program policies, procedures, and practices.If after you have applied for the position, you have further questions; please contact Angie Butterwick at 517-483-1887.Hourly Rate: $17.12 - $21.44 Job posting close dates are subject to change.
