The Senior Technologist II typically acts as a technology lead in defining strategy using their expert technical knowledge. The Senior Technologist II supports functions of complex technology applications development life cycles utilizing TNC’s project management disciplines. Activities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Works as part of a team to design/architecture SharePoint technical solutions.
  • Ensures the stability, reliability and security of TNC’s SharePoint environments
  • Maintains existing solutions, develops custom web parts, event handlers, features, site definitions and package solutions. Designs and builds InfoPath forms, workflows and may use SharePoint Designer/Visual Studio to build solutions, web parts, Master pages, themes and CSS.
  • Supports complex business applications built on SharePoint
  • Provides senior level technical support, guidance and input to assist in the development of project plans for projects that intend to use SharePoint as a development platform. Acts as a senior resource for SharePoint developers across teams within TIS.
  • Provides mentoring and assistance to develop other Infrastructure staff’s SharePoint development and administration skills.
  • Stays informed of advances in the SharePoint platform as well as 3 rd party tools and assesses their relevance and benefits for TNC. Assists in the development of strategies for optimal use of SharePoint and other collaborative tools within the organization
  • Act as lead technologist on technology application maintenance projects related to application upgrades, conversions, and modifications. Performs tasks assigned as required to complete project including design, development, running specific programs, generating reports, and analyzing results.
  • Provide support for production problems as assigned.
  • Act as final quality assurance analyst to conduct peer reviews and validate programmer analyst work done for complex systems before their release to production in all phases of the project life cycle.
  • Act as Project Lead on complex and loosely defined projects. Develop accurate project plans with realistic estimations and provide technical expertise to team members and users to help resolve complex project-related problems.
  • Analyze changing business and market circumstances and industry trends to evaluate alternatives and develop/implement solutions in response to changing business and market circumstances. Re-engineer TNC business practices as necessary. Administrative responsibilities include customer management.
  • Assist technical support staff, Business Support Center staff, Project Managers, and users as needed by providing support for applications including diagnosing complex problems requiring extensive analysis and troubleshooting. Design and implement solutions for corrective action in consultation with user community and TIS support group.
  • Assist with the development of data standards in compliance with TIS best practices that will facilitate integration between systems within TIS and its external partners.
  • When required, assist in developing end-user training and both end-user and technical documentation on new and existing systems according to TNC standards.
  • Perform Administrative tasks as assigned by the Program Director for Infrastructure.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7 years of experience in Information Technology field including 5 years of recent relevant experience with Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Experience as a SharePoint 2010 administrator for farms with multiple servers and multiple farms
  • Experience with claims authentication for SharePoint, WebPart development, supporting and troubleshooting custom .Net applications
  • Experience with the systems life cycle, project management principles and web-based programming best practices and concepts.
  • Experience analyzing highly complex system-wide technical specifications and interfaces, debugging applications programs, and producing user and technical documentation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • 5 years of SharePoint platform administration, including server configuration and optimization, backup and recovery
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced, in-depth experience with Microsoft SharePoint and SharePoint 2010 in particular.
  • Experience analyzing highly complex system-wide technical specifications and interfaces, debugging applications programs, and producing user and technical documentation.
  • Experience in developing .Net, powershell and other code solutions to manage SharePoint
  • Demonstrated ability to support / debug code developed by others and understand the interactions of components on the SharePoint platform.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Willingness to travel 10 – 20% of time.
