Basic Function:

Directs and coordinates activities of the systems engineering department to design, manufacture, and test electronic components, products, and systems either directly or through subordinates.


Directs department activities to research and analyze data, specifies and designs new products and choice of architecture, modifies existing designs, improves methods and processes, develops test procedures and provides a technical interface with customers.

Analyzes technology trends, human resources needs, and customer demands to plan projects and work with management to ensure that projects have what is needed for successful execution.

Reviews or manages the review internal and external documentation and process artifacts such as specifications to ensure that systems engineering processes are operating efficiently and uses this data to implement enhancements.

Manages systems engineering aspects of product development and associated budgets.

Directs activities to ensure that products conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.

Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.

Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

Interprets specifications and job orders to subordinates either verbally or in writing.

Manages projects related to quality improvement and supplier relations approach utilizing customer required formats such as APQP and PPAP techniques within project work. Leads the ongoing improvement of systems engineering methods & tools and their interface to other parts of Panasonic.

Manages staff including supervision, counseling, performance standards and review, discipline and employee development.

Responsible for the management of information security as part of the normal management of the business. Must cooperate with the Company ISM professionals in implementing the information security policies within the Company, and ensures that information is handled in compliance with the Global ISM related regulations.

Interprets, enforces and complies with Company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Prepares reports, charts, graphs, and other statistical information.

Will initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.

Provides assistance and technical guidance to systems engineers.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Four-year college degree in engineering or related technical field required.
Minimum of ten years systems design or related experience required. Specific experience in systems design for automotive audio components desirable.
Additional desirable experience includes familiarity with requirements, change and defect management including IBM tools (DOORS, RTC, Rhapsody).
Must have demonstrated leadership ability.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Windows based databases as appropriate to the position and assignment.
