This community funded safety net clinic on Colorado's Western Slope is seeking a physician to join their team as the Medical Director. The clinic is a comprehensive, quality-focused family practice and is implementing electronic medical records in 2013. This clinic and its providers work in a team-based, patient-centered model, developing a single treatment plan that may include multiple modalities and referrals to an outside physician network.
The Medical Director provides clinical leadership to the integrated medical care team and delivers primary care medical services in an approximate 50/50 time allocation. S/he manages and leads medical policy and procedures, oversees department budget and fiscal management, manages administrative functions of the medical department, and provides oversight of midlevel staff. This position works in alignment with the clinics administration, clinical directors and Board of Directors to achieve strategic planning goals.
The ideal candidate has significant clinical experience, is licensed in the state of Colorado, and has prior administrative experience. The individual must be flexible with strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment to communicate with a wide variety of people. Previous non-profit, indigent and/or volunteer experience is preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish is desirable.
Clinic hours are Monday Thursday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and Friday from 8:00am to 12:00pm; the physician may work at the satellite clinic located 13 miles away. No after-hours call. The clinic is not able to support a J-1 Visa waiver.
This community funded safety net clinic serves as a medical home for uninsured Mesa county residents with low to moderate incomes. It is part of the Health Information Exchange in Mesa County and utilizes the Quality Health Network system. The clinic is nationally recognized for their model of integrating medical and mental health services and has two physicians and three NP/PAs on staff.
The clinics integrated care model addresses medical and psychosocial needs through case management and access to individual, family and group counseling sessions. Serving as a medical home, they offer primary medical, dental, mental health, medication assistance and optical services. The local, non-profit hospital provides high-level, compassionate care with more than 40 available specialties and 300 physicians on staff.
The Health Professional Shortage Area Score (HPSA) for this site is 7 per HRSA.
