To facilitate understanding in communication between persons utilizing different languages (Spanish and English) by interpreting accurately and completely the information that is presented during the interpreted session.
Minimum of high school, foreign equivalent, or GED required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Proof of bilingual competencies as per Language Line University (LLU) testing or any similar recognized Testing Institution.
Complete successfully the Basic Interpreter Training (BIT), 20 hours program within 3 months upon being hired, or show proof of completion of any other equivalent Interpreter Training program.
Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes; assessed and validated by LLU or any other similar testing institution.
Excellent oral English and Spanish language skills.
Excellent customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with a variety of professionals.
Knowledge of written and oral interpretation/translation techniques.
Knowledge of target cultures’ beliefs and values, social and health issues, as appropriate.
Basic knowledge of specialized terminology; e.g. medical terminology and diseases.
