DESCRIPTION

THIS POSITION WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THE SECURE, STABLE AND OPTIMAL OPERATION OF THE COMPANY'S IP/SIP TELEPHONY INFRASTRUCTURE. A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE AN ENTHUSIASTIC, ENERGETIC SELF-STARTER THAT CAN WORK INDEPENDENTLY AND TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE SYSTEMS UNDER THEIR CARE.

DUTIES

  • INSTALLING, CONFIGURING AND PROACTIVELY MAINTAINING ALL VOIP TELEPHONY COMPONENTS (VOICEMAIL, INTERACTIVE VOICE SERVICES, CALL MANAGEMENT, ETC.)
  • PROVIDING DAY-TO-DAY SUPPORT BY ANALYZING, TROUBLESHOOTING, AND RESOLVING REPAIR ISSUES, VOIP HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE PROBLEMS, AND CHANGES.
  • PRACTICING TELEPHONY ASSET MANAGEMENT, INCLUDING PROACTIVE MAINTENANCE OF COMPONENTS AND COMPLETING RELATED DOCUMENTATION AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS INFORMATION.
  • PROACTIVELY IDENTIFYING CAPACITY AND PERFORMANCE ISSUES TO ENSURE UNINTERRUPTED SERVICE.
  • TROUBLESHOOTING ROUTER, SWITCH AND IP PHONE CONFIGURATION ISSUES.
  • ASSISTING IN THE OPERATIONAL, STRATEGIC PLANNING, AND BUSINESS CONTINUITY / DISASTER RECOVERY SOLUTIONS, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR.
  • PROVIDING 24X7 ON-CALL SUPPORT AS REQUIRED, INCLUDING ABILITY TO WORK A FLEXIBLE, OFF-HOURS SCHEDULE FOR PLANNED/UNPLANNED ISSUES, AS NEEDED.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN CIS, MIS, COMMUNICATIONS, OR A RELATED FIELD; OR A HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION WITH THREE YEARS TELECOM ENGINEER/SUPPORT EXPERIENCE.
  • EXPERIENCE WITH LINUX-BASED VOIP AND IP TELEPHONY SYSTEMS.
  • INFRASTRUCTURE EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS PREFERRED: CCNA PREFERRED, BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF CALL SCRIPTS, SIP TRUNKING, PACKET CAPTURE, NAT, AND FIREWALLS.
  • EXPERIENCE SUPPORTING COMPLEX VOICE, VIDEO AND DATA CONVERGED NETWORKS PREFERRED, USING CISCO INFRASTRUCTURE, QOS POLICIES AND PRIORITY QUEUING; AND IPSLA & NETFLOW MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT.
  • EXPERIENCE SUPPORTING LARGE VOICE NETWORKS PREFERRED.
  • INTERMEDIATE KNOWLEDGE OF MICROSOFT WINDOWS, LINUX/UNIX, AND OFFICE SUITE.
  • STRONG CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS.
  • CALL CENTER BACKGROUND, INCLUDING EXCELLENT REPORTING SKILLS.
  • INSTALLING, CONFIGURING AND PROACTIVELY MAINTAINING ALL VOIP TELEPHONY COMPONENTS (VOICEMAIL, INTERACTIVE VOICE SERVICES, CALL MANAGEMENT, ETC.)
