POSITION DESCRIPTION:
JOB PURPOSE

The International Graduate Admissions Coordinator is responsible for aggressively contributing to the student recruitment and admission efforts of the Graduate School by performing a variety of professional and clerical responsibilities. The position requires an individual who can work independently and as part of a team. The Graduate Admissions Coordinator is a professional representative of the Graduate School, and by extension Clemson University, who is expected to operate in a manner that is consistent with the Graduate Schools desire to promote a positive image and to provide quality service to its constituents.

JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinates the admission of international prospective students to the Graduate School by (50%):

a. Processing international applications and supporting materials for admission.

b. Performing data entry functions to enter and update prospective student information into the student database.

c. Entering new applications in the student database when necessary.

d. Maintaining accurate records in the student database.

e. Updating the student database, upon receipt of supporting documentation, with changes to applicant information, etc.

f. Processing standardized admission test scores by retrieving and entering into the student database when necessary.

g. Evaluating academic credentials.

2. Serves as liaison to program coordinators, faculty and staff regarding the admission process including but not limited to (30%):

a. Answering questions pertaining to graduate admission guidelines, policies and procedures.

b. Coordinating and communicating file completion.

c. Generating recommended admission decisions resulting in issuance of acceptance or rejection notification.

d. Setting the students appropriate term in the student database.

e. Adequately and professionally addressing questions, concerns, problems, etc. regarding the universities imaging system and online application.

f. Responding in a timely fashion (not more than 24 hours following submission) to program coordinators/faculty/staff inquiries submitted via phone, e-mail or Express Inquiry on the Graduate Schools Website.

g. Assisting in general with matters associated with the matriculation of applicants into the Graduate School.

3. Provides administrative and clerical duties including but not limited to (10%):

a. Answering incoming telephone calls to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

b. Providing appropriate service to walk-in visitors to the Office of Graduate Admissions as needed.

c. Opening and processing incoming mail as needed and assigned.

d. Scanning all application materials and supporting documentation received by the Office of Graduate Admissions based upon Graduate School or university policy and/or established procedures.

e. Assisting with direct mailings as needed.

f. Assisting with creation and maintenance of applicant files.

g. Clarifying through routine audits the accuracy of prospective student information in university student database and update when needed.

4. Facilitates the recruitment of prospective students for the Graduate School by (5%):

a. Adequately communicating the features and benefits of graduate programs at Clemson University to prospective students.

b. Identifying and encouraging qualified prospective students to apply for admission and submit supporting documentation required for file completion.

c. Representing the Graduate School at recruitment events as assigned.

d. Answering prospective students questions pertaining to graduate admission guidelines, policies and procedures.

e. Participating with the implementation of regular communication strategies with prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment when needed. Examples include managing communication schedules via the Graduate Schools contact management program, CollegeNet CRM, Tigertracks and Express Inquiry, or resulting from special events, departmental requests, etc.

f. Responding to and/or appropriately routing in a timely fashion (not more than 24 hours following submission) prospective student inquiries submitted via phone, e-mail or Express Inquiry on the Graduate Schools Website.

5. Provides professional support by (2%):
a. Assisting with and participating in on-going professional training for office staff.

b. Assisting with the implementation of and participating with an efficient orientation program for new students.

6. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as needed and assigned by the Director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions or the Dean of the Graduate School. (3%)

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A bachelors degree and experience in student services programs is required.

PREFERRED IN ADDITION TO THE MINIMUM:
A masters degree in student affairs practice in higher education or its equivalent and experience in the functional area of international admissions or recruitment is preferred. Experience with Banner and CollegeNET systems.

PAY & WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 05; salary for this position is $ 30,274.00

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
The International Graduate Admissions Coordinator receives immediate supervision from the Director of Admissions. In the absence of the director, supervision is received from other administrative personnel in the Graduate School designated by the director. Some discretion is necessary, but direction is generally provided through University policy and standards established by the Collegiate Deans.

The office environment is cordial and professional, but there is a great amount of pressure due to the nature of the admissions profession.
