Assist in achieving Customer Applications objectives. Design, test, debug, and document software for specific customer applications and features; represent the second level in Customer Applications.

Prepare work to be accomplished. Review the SOW, system function description, and the material relationship forms to determine the specific machine functions; coordinate project with engineering, Program management, and other supplier involvement.

Adhere to established project schedules and priorities; edit, develop, program, install, test, and maintain cost effective software applications for computer based mail processing equipment; adhere to established policies, procedures, government regulations, and customer requirements; generate documentation for new and revised applications; troubleshoot malfunctions; provide technical guidance and support to lesser experienced applications engineers.

Ensure quality of software designs. Develop and document in CSV; conduct, analyze, and develop required test cases; supply functional stories of the requirements and performance results to fine tune performance; solicit observations from customers; follow up and provide technical support for designs in Manufacturing and the field; request assistance from more experienced application engineers as required.

Provide information to management. Write status reports on progress; collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends.

Maintain client confidence by keep proprietary information confidential.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge. Attend educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; participate in professional societies.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with 3 to 7 years experience in software programming, design, and analysis, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Java; J2EE Operating Systems, Linux

Very good analytical skills to diagnose and report field issues

Strategic skills: postal analysis and graphical user interface systems

Proficiency in object-oriented analysis and design techniques and networking systems

Good experience in developing web user interface and Java application

Important technologies include Java, SWING, SWT, STRUTS, AJAX, TCP Socket, CSS, HTML and JSP

Related experience: Java Script, J2EE, EJB, JMS, JBoss and Tomcat

Database: MySQL

Tools: Ant, DreamWeaver, Eclipse, Bugzilla and CVS

Knowledge with electromechanical products such as sorting equipment and topology preferred.

Ability to speak German a plus.
