Areas: Oncology, Neurology, Psych Medicine, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Emergency, Critical Care, Senior Adult.
Observes patient’s condition and progress or lack of progress toward defined outcomes in collaboration with the RN.
Delivers patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, and policies and procedures in collaboration with the RN.
Documents observations and care concisely and legibly.
Provides support for unit activities by transporting patients, maintaining physical work environment in orderly manner as directed; answering patient call lights and responding to patient requests; transporting specimens, blood, non-narcotic pharmaceuticals, supplies, and medical records as needed.
Identifies and utilizes opportunities to assist healthcare team members.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of either a nursing assistant program, medical assistant, or currently in nursing school having completed at least 2 clinical rotations.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
Requires minimum WorkKeys Skills Scores of: Workplace Observation - 1; Listening for Understanding – 1; and Locating Information - 4.
Certification as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
Oral and written communication skills, basic knowledge of mathematics and problem- solving skills acquired through a combination of education and experience
One (1) year experience in an acute/ambulatory environment
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Reads and understands English.
Performs basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain composure under stressful situations.
Shows how to use (through a competency assessment) a standard desktop and windows based computer system, including a basic understanding of email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation.
Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job.
