Job Description:
The Linux/Oracle System Administrator is a key technical resource and will need to provide technical support for the development team and various PPC projects. As new technologies emerge and impact our systems, the System Administrator is expected to learn these technologies very quickly and resolve any problems involved in integration with our systems. He/she will monitor servers for stability and take both proactive and reactive measures to correct and prevent issues. They will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of servers and systems used in a cloud environment. The individual will service and troubleshoot networks, systems and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems. They will also provide fellow system administrators, developers and support staff with technical support and guidance and will install, configure and maintain services such as JBOSS, ORACLE 11g and Apache across several servers.

Other day to day tasks will include:
SVN administration

Deployment of code to development, staging and live server environments from SVN

MySQL administration and MySQL backup, restore, user and privilege configuration

Apache configuration and rewrite configuration

PHP configuration

DNS configuration

SSL installation

Linux updates/security patches

User access administration in Linux for developers

Working with server control panels

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree

Advanced knowledge of the Linux operating system

Able to troubleshoot website and server issues in a cloud hosting environment

Experience with JBOSS and Oracle 11g

Advanced understanding of Apache

Experience with PHP, MySQL, XML and HTML

Experience maintaining servers for standard Internet services such as DNS, NFS, DHCP, printing and FTP

Experience with troubleshooting hardware

Working knowledge and experience with virtual environments

Preferred Qualifications:
CISSP, Network+ or Security+ Certifications

Cloud Experience

Experience in server migration exercises

RedHat experience

Experience of clustering, backup configuration and DR exercises

A background in UNIX OS, preferably with Linux/UNIX server administration

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work well within a team in a fast paced, constantly changing environment

Outstanding customer service skills

Ability to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance
