This position supports tasking at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division in China Lake, CA. The successful candidate will work with the Lead DBA in the design, maintenance and optimization of a MySQL database. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: participating in development, maintenance, evaluation and document administration of database tools and strategies; working as a team on application design schemas/integrity, conduct performance tuning/optimization; database programming/scripting on an adhoc basis; generate test scripts as needed to support test team; administer MySQL database in test and production environments; support software application developers and test team; design, code and implement stored procedures for management of database objects; and perform database monitoring and performance analysis.

Education: A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of six (6) years of experience as a Database Administrator is required.

Experience: Proven experience in MySQL/Oracle DBA, stored procedures, database design and administration and C++. Candidate is required to have strong technical skills in UNIX and Windows platforms, a working knowledge of MySQL 5.0, and design/support development, testing and production database instances in a high transaction web environment. Experience with Oracle PL/SQL, stored procedure use with PHP, Java and C++, SQL Maestro, Windows, Solaris, Unix, C++, Java and Object Oriented Programming is desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must show evidence of skill with a good understanding of internet applications and its workflow technology; MySQL replication and other high availability environment experience; adaptability to highly dynamic working environment; ability to take initiative and work independently; and excellent problem solving, collaboration and communication skills.
