In support of Goodwill Greater Washington’s mission, the Vice President of Development plans and leads a comprehensive development program to generate revenue for the organization. Guided by overarching goal of revenue maximization, the VP of Development provides overall direction for the department, including: strategic planning; administrative management; and resource development from individuals, corporations, foundations, and capital campaign solicitation. The VP of Development performs good stewardship, compliance, and quality assurance through solid infrastructure and systems, and is an active and contributing member of the Senior Management team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Secures financial resources by directing and supervising resource development programs to include: annual giving, major donor giving, planned giving, endowment giving, corporate grants, foundation grants (in conjunction with Workforce development), special events fundraising and oversight of capital campaign for new headquarters building.
2.Develops and maintains relationships with internal partners (staff and board) and external partners (individuals, businesses and foundations) that contribute to securing the organization’s financial resources.
3.Actively participates in gift solicitation. Builds strong donor relationships through cultivation and stewardship with individual, business and foundation donors.
4.Develops and maintains infrastructure and systems to support a full menu of development efforts including: fundraising registration, donor recognition, gift acceptance, donor and gift management, gift fulfillment, and donor stewardship.
5.Leads the department by developing and managing a staff of high performers, budgeting, creating and implementing the departmental strategic plan, and representing the department at the Division Head level.
6.Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the President & CEO.

4.Development Coordinator (beginning June 2013 and reporting to Development Director)
2.Over ten years of progressive nonprofit development experience.
3.Proven success generating revenue in all major arenas, including: individual, corporate, foundation, and capital campaign solicitation; direct marketing; special events fundraising; and planned giving.
4.Knowledge and practice of the ethical standards within the fundraising industry.
5.Proven leadership and staff management experience.
6.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
7.Skilled in Microsoft Office desktop applications.
8.Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
9.Ability to use Raiser’s Edge.
10.Strong problem solving skills.
