We currently have an opportunity for an Agronomic Research Manager to lead the development and testing of agronomic system concepts for our products. This position will be located in Georgia. The Agronomic Research Manager is a key role within the Technology Development organization and will gain first hand knowledge of Monsanto's product pipeline. The manager is primarily responsible for managing the testing and evaluation of new biotechnology traits and other new products within the Mid South region. This is a unique opportunity to work with leading edge technology and build relationships and networks with talented cross functional teams such as Breeding, Commercial and Discovery Traits and Chemistry.
Leading and managing the execution of multiple field research trial programs.
Administer and conduct crop protection efficacy, tolerance and FAB trials.
Develop and test agronomic systems concepts for our products.
Manage testing and evaluation of new biotechnology traits and other new products at the Agronomy Center.
Administer and execute regulatory science projects to ensure compliance.
Maintain USDA Regulatory Compliance.
Responsible for specific aspects of the Center's safety program.
Maintain fiscal responsibility.
Develop strong, sustainable relationships with key Ag Technology personnel, St. Louis product and project managers, academic and seed company cooperators and other key influencers.
Develop and maintain relationships with Technology Development Reps & Sales Reps to help steward current products and introduce new products.
Participate in local sales team meetings when requested.
Assist Field Reps with difficult technical problems and sales support issues.
Performs other duties as required. Required Skills/Experience:
B.S. in Agronomy, Weed Science, Entomology, Soil Science or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively without direct supervision, ability to work effectively with a team, strong time management skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Training and experience in experimental design, field test plot management, statistics and data interpretation.
Strong computer skills, especially in scientific software.
Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Experience operating and maintaining agricultural equipment.
Must obtain State Certified Pesticide Applicator license.
Have a class A CDL drivers license or the ability to obtain one.
Ability to push, lift or pull up to 70 lbs.
May be required to work in strained or cramped positions.
Ability to pass a driving record background check (i.e. moving violations, accidents, license suspension, etc.).
Federal regulations from the Department of Transportation cover this position and mandate the passing of certain pre-employment requirements, such as a background check, drug test and physical.
MS and/or Phd in Agronomy, Weed Science, Entomology, Soil Science or a closely related discipline.
