This position requires a high degree of independence and involves a great deal of responsibility, within the parameters of established College and University guidelines. Employee works under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and supervises the work of others in Student Services to assure that all advising, recruitment, special events, undergraduate degree audit, administration of scholarships, student records management, and student association and residence hall activities are carried out. The general areas of supervisory/management responsibility for this position and for the Student Services unit within the CHP Dean's Office include:
*Has supervisory responsibility, including performance evaluations, for all Student Services staff. This includes four existing UCP advisors and one classified Senior Administrative Assistant.
*Academic Advising for all pre-program CHP students.
*Student Recruitment activities coordination with University Admissions events that support recruitment.
*Represent CHP on University Academic Advisor Council & Academic Advisors Consortium
Scholarship Coordination for CHP.
*Student Undergraduate degree audit and award.
*Advisory and support to specific CHP student organizations
*Coordination of CHP fall and spring commencement ceremonies
*Coordination of college generated recruiting materials for CHP programs
*Coordination of editing and or development of CHP graduate/undergraduate catalog materials and university recruiting materials and publications.
*Coordination of CHP advising participation in University recruitment and retention efforts
*Other Student related activities as may be assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean.
*Permanent seat on CHP Student Affairs Committee, University Advisor Council and University Advisor Consortium
Minimum Education (Required):
* Bachelors Degree
Minimum Experience (Required):
*Minimum three years of experience providing college level academic or admissions advising in a college setting.
*Minimum three years of experience evaluating academic transcripts in a college setting
*Minimum two years of experience working in an office environment to include use of MS Office (Power Point, Excel, Word).
*Minimum three years' experience developing and presenting information to large groups of students, parents, and others
*Minimum three years' experience planning and executing events.
*Minimum two years' experience in a management/supervisory role managing a staff of three or more employees.
* Bachelors degree in educational counseling or related field;
* Masters degree in educational counseling or related field.
*Five or more years' experience in a management/supervisory role managing a staff of five or more employees.
*Experience with financial aid or scholarship processes in a college setting.
*Experience working as an advisor or mentor to a student organization in a community college or university setting.
*Experience working in a management position in a customer/public service setting
*Experience with Student SunGuard Banner systems
Required licenses, certificates and registrations:
* Valid Kansas driver's license
