The Director of Business Technology & Portfolio leads a team responsible for delivering high value functionality to the business, acts as lead point-of-contact with business executives, and drives the creation of the technology portfolio as well as its successful execution and delivery. This position is responsible for assuring adherence to quality standards and best practices in building technology roadmaps, governance and technology prioritization, business analysis (requirements) and process engineering, and program and project management. The Director of Business Technology & Portfolio leads teams of IT professionals delivering IT systems and services to the business in a technologically sophisticated, high performance, high availability (24/7), high demand, and high reliability (24/7) environment. Additional responsibilities include the following:
Participate in IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals.
Define Business Technology & Portfolio departmental vision, goals, objectives, and operating procedures that align with overall IT and corporate vision, goals and objectives.
Lead the prioritization, deployment, and management of current and future technology programs/projects across the organization.
Foster innovation in the creation and delivery of an effective enterprise technology portfolio that supports current operations, accommodates anticipated growth, and enables the adoption of market leading technology and application solutions that can serve as differentiators for the business.
Efficiently deploy and manage offshore/nearshore resources.
Manage departmental operating and capital budgets that result in cost effective and efficient operations.
Manage the governance, technology project prioritization, and demand management functions that meet corporate end-user requirements.
Ensure the delivery of the technology portfolio that is integrated, coordinated, and consistent with business and technical standards.
Review and analyzes existing practices for effectiveness and efficiency, and develop improvement strategies where needed.
Ensure that all new applications and solutions meet functional requirements and adhere to enterprise standards and compliance.
Promote efforts to define, deploy, and maintain standard project management analytic and delivery processes and tools that enable the delivery of high quality applications.
Lead development of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with customers and stakeholders for delivery services, including software analysis, software engineering, and quality assurance.
Deliver exceptional service to end customers and other stakeholders, and establishes metrics to track and report on service level related performance.
Manage the effective analysis and execution (delivery) of software applications and system support services.
Develop a culture of continuous improvement and an environment that fosters staff growth and development.
Cultivate, disseminate, and enforce functional policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices.
Serve as a member of the IT executive team, working to deliver integrated IT solutions and services.
Develop, manage, and mentor employees within the IT Business Technology & Portfolio team.
Perform other duties as assigned by the CIO.
Advanced degree in computer science, information systems, or business administration or related field.
Minimum 10 years' executive level experience in IT with a focus on business acumen, fostering positive/collaborative business relationships, business engineering and process development, requirements and analysis, program/project management, and delivery of strategic application systems.
Strong knowledge of SDLCs, quality gates, project management, and ITIL best practices and methodologies.
Experience managing business processes, budgeting, and business office operations.
Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
Ability to apply current best practices in the management, analysis, and delivery of a large, proprietary, highly integrated, real-time system architecture.
Proven leadership ability with exceptional service orientation.
Advanced knowledge of IT best practices.
Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.
Ability to set and monitor key staff performance metrics and provide meaningful feedback.
