Associate/Full Professor
Positions in Design Studies

The Department of Apparel Merchandising and Interior Design at
Indiana University-Bloomington ( ) invites
applications and nominations for two positions: one tenured
Associate or Full Professor and one tenure-track Assistant
Professor, to begin in the fall 2011, at the new Indiana University
Center for Art and Design in Columbus, Indiana. The Department is
looking for candidates in design studies specializing in interior
design, fashion design, fine arts, museum studies, architecture, or
historic preservation. Exceptional candidates in other fields will
be considered as well. Candidates must have an earned terminal
degree such as a Ph.D., Master of Fine Arts, or Master of
Architecture. Candidates for associate/full professor must have an
outstanding record of publication or creative scholarship; all
candidates must be committed to an ongoing program of research
and/or creative scholarship as well as outreach with the local
community. We are especially interested in scholars who are
prepared to teach foundational concepts and theories of design
thinking to examine design in its broadest definition, integrating
architecture, interiors, art, fashion, and business, revealing
their unifying elements and principles.
