This high performing clean energy start-up company is looking for an ambitious and talented Senior Mechanical Engineer for their Systems team.
Summary:
The Systems Mechanical Engineer is responsible for design and engineering of battery module, racking, containerization and mechanical interfaces for shipping and operation of energy storage systems. The Engineer will work closest with battery, system and test engineers to produce the highest value energy storage system products. The focus of the engineering group is commercializing energy storage products for multiple markets.
Responsibilities:
Executes complete design cycle (concepts, analysis, optimization, validation and implementation) for the battery system including electrical interfaces, mechanical integrity retention and thermal management
Apply sound engineering principles, relevant codes, standards, agile design practices, and product development processes to meet technical, cost and program requirements
Find and champion cost reduction opportunities, including recommendations for optimizing systems that interface with the battery system
Validate technical performance and cost targets
Provide primary engineering support for vendor evaluation, selection and qualification
Manages vendor implementation of the design including performance to technical requirements, schedule and cost
Ensure proper documentation of technical data including bills of material, drawings and certification tests consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Desired Skills:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
Strong background and experience in structural integration / stress, vibration and shock analysis, DC electrical systems, heat transfer analysis, cooling and ventilation design and design for reliability
Practical skills in mechanical and electrical product assembly
Experience working with industrial equipment vendors
Experience with engineering software such as SolidWorks
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work
