We currently have an R&D Lab Assistant–Wet Lab career opportunity at our Dallas, TX location.
1.1) Maintain lab environment, assist scientists & engineers in performing experiments, chemical blending, lab equipment preparation, verbal reports, maintaining lab notebooks, data entry. Primary focus is on laboratory techniques and chemical blending. Limited travel may be required.
2. MISSIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Learn and support development of technologies which may include but are not limited to blending, formulation, wet coating deposition (spin, dip or other methods), thin film deposition, 40%
Set up and operate vacuum and wet coating lines according to specialized processes as defined by engineers or scientists. Maintain HMC equipment by cleaning, adjusting, replacing components. Basic troubleshooting equipment and process issues. 20%
Analyze chemistries (examples: viscosity, percent solids, pH.), coated lens properties (such as thickness), and coating formulations using various analytical tools. (viscosity, percent solids) 20%
Basic inspection techniques and understanding of common cosmetic defects 10%
Set up and operate vacuum or wet coating systems, cleaning lines, and curing equipment in standard fashion. (standard parameters). Keep precise process records. Maintain HMC equipment by cleaning, adjusting, replacing components. Basic troubleshooting equipment and process issues. 5%
Assist in standard preventative maintenance of wet coating and vacuum coating equipment 5%
All other duties as assigned within scope of position.
3.1) 2-3 years working in a testing or chemistry laboratory environment focusing on chemical blending (ie: coating, paints, etc).
3.2) Excellent chemical handling techniques and laboratory skills with a focus on safety.
3.3) Capable of working with wet chemicals blending and following blending procedures.
3.4) Good verbal, reading, and math skills.
3.5) Must be organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
3.6) Must be comfortable working with all members of technical teams regardless of skill level or expertise.
3.7) Must display flexibility in work assignments to accommodate group and personal goals.
3.8) Basic quality training and cosmetic lens inspection skills are a plus.
3.9) Basic computer skills including email, word processing, spreadsheet data entry is required.
3.10) Attention to detail and thoroughness in performing tasks.
