Works under the direction of the Director of Rehabilitation and/or the Supervisor of Rehab Therapy. The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) provides direct patient care, as directed by the evaluating Occupational Therapist, to all those patients referred for OT at Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Regional Hospital. The OTA participates in all team conferences, staff meetings and any other appropriate meetings deemed necessary by the specific unit. The OTA is able to interact on a professional basis with all LRMC/TVRH Rehab Team members and is able to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of patients in reference to specific age groups.
The OTA demonstrates competency to care for patients in accordance with discipline specific therapy standards, as defined by the Florida Dept. of Health, Board of OT. The OTA provides instruction and assistance to all Alliance Rehab Team members and acts in compliance with the ethical conduct of the organization at all times.
