Serves as a journey level power plant operator at a hydroelectric project. Understands basic theoretical power plant electrical and mechanical functions of the power plant operations and power control systems located in the control room. Able to read schematics of mechanical systems. Computer literacy is a must.
Reporting, recording and maintaining files of finding during inspection of power plant equipment. Operates project equipment, including assuming local control of stopping, starting, synchronizing, adjusting load and voltage regulators, for power units and power auxiliary equipment. Under direction of operator-in-charge prepares, issues, and accepts release of clearances; places clearance tags and operates equipment in accordance with safe clearance procedures.
