The University of Maine Department of Communication and Journalism invites applications for a one-year, fixed-length, Assistant Professor appointment for the 2013-2014 academic year to teach courses in communication and mass communication.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in communication and mass communication, such as persuasion, visual communication, and public relations. The teaching load is three courses per semester. Other duties include student advising, research scholarship, and departmental service.

ABD required, Ph.D. preferred in communication, mass communication or related field by date of hire. Demonstrated relevant teaching and research experience is also required.

The Department of Communication and Journalism is composed often full-time faculty and is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The department offers B.A. degrees in Communication, Journalism, and Mass Communication as well as a M.A. in Communication with Communication and Mass Communication sequences and an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Current departmental enrollment is 300 undergraduate majors and 25 graduate students. The University of Maine, located in Orono, Maine, has an enrollnent of 12,000 students and is a Land Grant institution and the flagship campus of the University of Maine System.
