The Hewlett-Packard LaserJet Enterprise Solutions (LES) organization builds the world's leading LaserJet, InkJet and ScanJet solutions. LES is focused on developing LaserJet single-function and multi-function printers, scanners & copier products with established HP ease of use, quality and innovative features that are important to the many markets around the world that these products serve. The LaserJet Enterprise Solutions R&D organization is responsible for developing world class end to end solutions for a broad range of LaserJet single-function and multi-function printers, scanners & copiers. As a Product Champion you will be responsible for collaboration with equipment designers and/or hardware/firware engineers during the discovery, definition, design, and development phases of the product lifecycle. You will execute advanced troubleshooting and debugging capabilities of system level issues. Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence any aspect of the product design/end-to-end solution. You will apply developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex issues within established guidelines and recommend appropriate alternative solutions. You will work on problems/projects of diverse complexity and scope. You will exercise independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select solutions to simple and complex issues. You may act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitating the decision-making process. You may seek advice in order to make decisions on complex business issues and will serve as a key member of a dynamic and exciting R&D development team. You will be expected to be self-managed and able to plan activities, time, and workload to meet clearly communicated goals and objectives

Responsibilities

Designs enhancements, updates, and programs changes for system subsystems, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools

Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution.

Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture

Leads a project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem

Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution

Represents the software systems engineering team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.

Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Responsible for representing product system at Program Management Team's (PMT).

Reports system status to the PMT.

1st line responder to program teams for any system related issues

Responsible for coordinating with FW/Low Level team to create stable test platform for partners.

Responsible for working with Low Level FW and ASIC teams to turn on new ASICs on product platforms.

Responsible for leading FW/HW/SW system eSAG process. Ensure known good eSAG is in place prior to communicating the latest system versioning to partners.

Triage/debug to determine which area of the system defect resides, log defect and monitor defect to resolution.

Attend and participate in tactical coordination meetings

Lead weekly product specific program meetings with component teams to address specific issues.

Provide weekly system status report.

As required or needed, participate (or review outcomes) in specification reviews from FW or other disciplines such as SW, hardware, engines, etc.

Represent the engine level system at the PMT, Beta, Transition Team, and SWAT Meetings.

Provide assistance to program manager with creating schedules, tracking issues and driving issues to resolution.

Collaborate with testing organizations to ensure testing is run to validate system integration is functional.

System representation to manufacturing to assist in working through issues to resolution.

Develop and expand expertise in areas of domain knowledge. Be the “go to” person to obtain information when peer/partners have questions.

Develop and maintain strong partnerships with domains that you are managing. i.e. Scanner – understand key players and build relationships

Provide technical feedback to help improve the overall design for efficiency and optimization of our development model and programs

Collaborate and sync with peers to create optimized processes to avoid redundancy and multiple processes.

Identify ways to take work out and increase efficiencies

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's (undergraduate) or Master's (graduate) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related experience

Minimum 3+ years experience in embedded firmware/software industry

Minimum 3+ years experience in test driven development within an Agile Development Model

Minimum 3+ years experience in product development and product lifecycle phased development

Knowledge and Skills

Practical experience in C#, C++, Windows CE/XP and Linux preferred

Device driver development in Windows CE/XP and Linux

Embedded System Development: Windows CE RTOS or equivalent

Software/Firmware development, test & release experience.

Embedded debugging / troubleshooting with target HW and/or system simulators.

Automated unit, subsystem, and system test experience.

Expertise in multiple software systems design tools and languages.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Designing software systems running on multiple platform types

Software systems testing methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools

Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management level.

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Mastery in English and local spoken language.
