Want a glimpse into the inner workings of our marketing department? What about learning all that goes into new product development? As one of the nation’s largest grocery chains, making sure that we are staying current with the new products that are customers want to purchase is extremely important. Learn more about the research and testing that goes into determining which products make it onto our shelves across the country by spending the summer working as the intern for our product development department.
This internship will be based on a project that will focus on Private Label Product Specification Assessment. The intern will determine specification attributes based on industry trends and brand requirements. They will define specification attributes for key core PL products and build SAL owned specifications to support merchant business objectives.
Responsibilities to achieve these objectives include:
-Ingredient and Nutritional Evaluations
-Label Declaration Evaluations
-Administrative Work (qualitative/quantitative data input)
This paid summer internship has a negotiable start date. The internship will take place Monday-Friday in our Corporate Office in Earth City, Mo.
What We Look For
-At least 6 months of work experience in a foodservice/restaurant environment
-basic culinary skills (classical French base)
-Some coursework in food chemistry, food science. Microbiology, chemistry or any associated/similar degreed program
year student or in pursuit of a Masters Degree
-Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and challenges
-Efficient with Microsoft Office, strong Excel knowledge
