Financial Analyst II

General purpose:

Service delivery; compliance; quality and auditable financial statements

Role qualifications:
  • Must partner with clients, internal staff and VP to manage client deliverables and schedules
  • Must address customer issues and ensure effective problem resolution
  • Must ensure compliance with company, GAAP, FAR procedures and standards
  • Consulting with clients
Position responsibilities:
  • Applies advanced financial analyst skills to perform and assist with all aspects of financial analysis including: assisting with DCAA incurred cost submissions and CAS statements, indirect rate budgeting; may specialize in one area
  • Creates multi-year budgets in compliance with DCAA guidelines
  • Researches and analyzes financial and economic trends and develops short-term forecasts
  • Supports assigned clients with cost-effective, accurate and compliant accounting services
  • Supports monthly financial statements
  • Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems
  • Prepares reports for the VP, FP&A
  • Responsible for meeting deliverables and client satisfaction for assigned clients
Essential skills and experience:
  • 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience required; understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles required
  • Knowledge of government contract accounting required especially indirect rate development and analysis
  • Must be proficient in standard office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • IBM Cognos or Hyperion experience preferred
  • Strong problem solving aptitude required; must be able to analyze client needs and leverage accounting systems effectively to create value to customers
  • Ability to apply GAAP, FAR and other pertinent accounting principles to consulting situations required
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required; must effectively communicate the scope of work and technical findings or recommendations to a non-technical audience; ability to produce readable, concise and accurate written documentation required. Must be able to isolate issues and define problems clearly and articulate solutions in a clear, concise, and consultative manner
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Extensive travel to customer locations required
Valued but not required skills and experience:
  • Familiarity with accounting software packages a plus, preferably Deltek GCS or Costpoint
  • Familiarity with reporting software packages, preferably Cognos Impromptu and/or Planning/TM1 desirable
